Personal data that we process

BeachBreak processes your personal data through your use of our services and/or through the provision of this data by yourself. Below is an overview of the personal data we process:

• Date of birth
• Phone number
• Email address

Special and/or sensitive personal data that we process

Our website and/or service does not intend to collect data about website visitors who are under 16 years of age unless they have parental or guardian consent. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is over 16 years of age. We therefore advise parents to be involved in their children’s online activities to prevent the collection of data about children without parental consent. If you are convinced that we have collected personal data about a minor without that consent, please contact us at info@beachbreak.nl and we will remove this information.

For what purpose and on what basis we process personal data

BeachBreak processes your personal data for the following purposes:

• Processing your payment
• Sending our newsletter and/or advertising brochure
• To be able to call or email you if this is necessary to provide our services
• To inform you about changes to our services and products
• Giving you the option to create an account

Automated decision-making

Based on automated processing, BeachBreak makes decisions regarding matters that can have (significant) consequences for individuals. These are decisions that are made by computer programs or systems, without a human (for example, an employee of BeachBreak) being involved. BeachBreak uses the following computer programs or systems: Viking Bookings, Mailchimp, MessageBird, and Mollie.

How long we keep personal data

BeachBreak does not store your personal data for longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data are collected. We apply the following retention periods for the following categories of personal data: course participants 2 years, participants in kidsurfing 2 years, participants in surf camps 2 years, and rental of water sports equipment 1 year.

Sharing personal data with third parties

BeachBreak does not sell your data to third parties and will only provide it if necessary for the execution of our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation. We enter into a processing agreement with companies that process your data on our behalf to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. BeachBreak remains responsible for these processing activities.

Cookies, or similar techniques that we use

BeachBreak uses only technical and functional cookies, and analytical cookies that do not infringe your privacy. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you visit this website for the first time. The cookies we use are necessary for the technical functioning of the website and your convenience. They ensure that the website works properly and remember, for example, your preferred settings. We can also use them to optimize our website. You can opt out of cookies by setting your internet browser to not store any more cookies. Additionally, you can also delete all information previously stored via the settings of your browser.

View, modify, or delete data

You have the right to view, correct or delete your personal data. In addition, you have the right to withdraw your consent to the data processing or object to the processing of your personal data by BeachBreak and you have the right to data portability. That means that you can submit a request to us to have the personal data we hold about you transferred to you or another organization of your choice in a computer file. You can send a request for access, correction, deletion, or transfer of your personal data, or a request to withdraw your consent or object to the processing of your personal data, to info@beachbreak.nl. To ensure that the request for access was made by you, we kindly ask you to send a copy of your ID with the request. In this copy, please black out your photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip of numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number, and Burgerservicenummer (BSN). This is to protect your privacy. We will respond as soon as possible, but within four weeks, to your request. BeachBreak would also like to point out that you have the option to file a complaint with the national supervisory authority, the Dutch Data Protection Authority. This can be done via this link.

How we secure personal data

BeachBreak takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorized modification.
