Our history

Beach Break gets its name from pioneer Hank Snel. In 1998, he opened the Beach Break Surf & Cult shop in Noordwijk aan Zee. At the same time, one of the first kite surfing schools in the Netherlands was established. In 2004, the activities moved to the sea.

Beach Break started as a few shipping containers, for the storage of materials. Especially in recent years, and since 2016, the watersport hotspot and Beach Café has been operating in its current form. Under the leadership of Aren Lee Wilson and Cesar Smits, there is a huge added value in the form of hospitality, meeting new people, watersports, and enjoying excellent cuisine.

Aren Lee Wilson and Cesar Smits grew up with the sea, and have been traveling and surfing the world shaped by the relaxed vibe that the small surf paradises are so famous for. And that typical laidback atmosphere, along with the awareness in food and hospitality, is now at the heart of Beach Break.

Beach Break is located on a calm and secluded part of the Noordwijk beach. It offers more than just golf and kite surfing. The sea offers more opportunities for relaxation and sporting challenges. Sea kayaking, SUP, rafting – these are just a few of the ways to challenge yourself. But you’re more than welcome to bring a good book along too!

The team consists of experienced instructors and a friendly crew. They are happy to help you with everything that makes your day more enjoyable. Come for sports, for a gathering, or just to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
